- To prevent cross-caliber chambering (i.e. a 35 cal cartridge in a 33 cal chamber).
- To accommodate longer bullet ogive lengths for larger calibers (30cal bullets have longer ogives than 6.5mm bullets do) while staying within 3.340” COAL.
- To provide a respectable neck length for each caliber. The larger the caliber, the more neck length is needed for adequate neck tension.
Why does the 30 Nosler case dimension differ from the 26 and 28 Nosler case dimensions?
